Slippers

Happy New Year, 2014!

I’m finally writing again on this blog. It’s weird how I always want to write when exams are around the corners. Haha. Always wasting time until exam day arrive, and I won’t sleep in that day, you know, to study.

2014? At first, I thought I am the same girl as I was. But then I realized, 2013 has changed me into a more-confident girl. I even joined 2 English debate competitions, an event of my Uni, and so much more. So, I started 2014 with a pretty big smile and hope 2014 can also change me into a better person.

Next month I will be 20. Sometimes it scares me a lot. I don’t know why. I just feel like it all happened so fast. I haven’t gone outside the country, sometimes I easily feel tired that I sleep too early, I never diet even though I had it all planned so long ago, don't have so many friends, I never painting again, I’m now too lazy to read books, I’m now addicted to Plants Vs Zombie 2 and too busy with my phone. Maybe these are the reasons why future always scares me. I’m not 100% living my life! I try hard to remember that I have to live my life. But sometimes, I forgot. I’m stuck in the routines, and next time I know, I’ll be 30. Then, I have my own family, and maybe more stressful. Fyuh.

OK, I guess I have to focus on this day. Just-this-day. Tomorrow, I’ll be focus on tomorrow. Wish me luck. I guess I have focus issue haha.

By the way, I want to tell you about the Christmas episode of Modern Family. I love it! Claire said she didn’t have to open the present from her Mom, because it was the same present every year, slippers. On the other side, Gloria’s Mom came to her house and stayed for a few days, but then Gloria started to feel that her Mom is become annoying. So Gloria asked Claire to come to her house. At first, Claire thought she have to babysit Joe, buuut what real happening was: Claire have to “babysit” Gloria’s Mom, so Gloria can go shopping with Joe.

Surprisingly, it turned out well. Claire can bake perfect cookies with the recipe from Gloria’s Mom. She gave so many compliments to Claire, and when Gloria heard it, she became jealous because she can’t bake perfect cookies and her mother never give any compliment.

Claire and Gloria started to fight like a children, but thanks God, Gloria’s Mom made them talked like adults. Claire admitted that she is the one who jealous with Gloria. She’s so jealous that Gloria’s Mom came all the way from Colombia just to meet Gloria. But Claire’s Mom? She just sends the same slippers every year.

Claire told them that when she was 8, she liked cute slippers. And that year, her Mom gave her slippers. Claire was sooo happy on that day. But she confused why her mom have to send the same present for the next years.

And this is the best part, Gloria’s Mom said: 

“Maybe she remembers a time when she made you happy, and she wants to go back there… we don’t like to admit it but mothers never get over the day their daughters leave them. We never stop needing our little girls.” :’)

 Claire finally opened her present and yes, it was slippers.

“And things that seem worthless suddenly turned out to be super valuable.”
