Sky is not the limit, I am

Last night is totally a slap-in-the-face for me. All this time, I grumbled a lot about my problems. It made my eyes so blurred that I can't see the reality. World is more cruel than I ever noticed. I was sad just because I built walls around me, then I trapped in a room -- that I created myself, with my sadness and negativity. Now, I feel stupid for being such a weak girl.

This is my favorite quote from Gloria so far:
Manny : Whoa, whoa, whoa. What is this? Where's my soft-boiled egg?
Gloria : I scrambled it. It's good for you to try new things.
Manny : I don't want to try new things. You can't just spring this on me.
Gloria : I have bad news, Manny. This is not the biggest curve ball that life is going to throw you.
EXACTLY. I should've keep it in my mind everytime I feel low: This is not the biggest curve ball that life is going to throw you.
No, this quote is not the slap. It's actually a song, Something More by Nick Vujicic. Totally awestruck. Most wonderful music video that I've ever seen :)

A big thanks to my friend, who told me about this song. It really means something. Especially when my friend told me that Nick still keep a pair of shoes in his closet.. A pair of shoes.. that means a pair of hopes that he keep believing. :)

I feel both happy and sad about the shoes. I don't know why it makes me smile eventhough my heart is broken. It just wonderful that Nick believes wholeheartedly. :) Nick was once asked: "what kind of husband I am gonna be, if I can't hold my wife's hands?" - which made me cried even harder - "I know I can't. I can't hold my wife hands, but someday I knew I could. Someday I will, maybe in the other life." (I have no idea whether this part is true, because my friend loves exaggerating things, but screw that. I believe it, too.)

By the way, Nick is now married to a beautiful girl and he is soon to be Dad! If one day, I meet him, I will hug him and say thanks for the song.

They said: “Limits exist only in the mind”

So yeah, "Don't believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you'll see the way to fly.” - Richard Bach

"The only limits to the possibilities in your life tomorrow are the buts you use today." - Les Brown

Have a nice holidays :)

Do you remember?

Do you remember, as a kid, the first time you went really fast on your bike, and it felt like you were flying, or the first time you got both wheels off the ground, and how you could feel, almost hear, your heart beating. It was like the first time you held her hand, or ran away from home and got lost.
Now, do you remember the last time you drove by a lake and wondered if there was a rope swing but never stopped, or the last time you looked at a smooth stone and imagined throwing it across the water but finished your conversation instead. When was the last time you considered a tree based on climb-ability? Ran across the grass barefoot, or decided to be a robber instead of a cop? Well, no one wants to be a cop anyways.
Let’s pretend again, and play a prank; we’ll defend a fort, or draw a map to plan an escape. All we have to do is take off our shoes and jump in, or walk outside and find an adventure.

He Explained it in Numbers

HA! I have just finished reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. (yeah yeah I know it's been so long. well, I can't read quickly, and my college life also distracted me, so...). It's a very very good book. I don't know how many times I cried haha.
I loved to have a husband like Thomas (Oskar's Dad, not his Grandpa)! And I love the story between Grandma and Grandpa, even though I can't understand it. really, what is love? She said, 'I can forgive you for leaving, but not for coming back,' but she still questioning herself whether she really loves him or not. she knew her husband loves Anna, her sister. But why she still care about him? I just can't believe how she can manage all of it.

btw, I found page 150-152 that really interesting, because it's full of codes! here it is:

I found a pay phone and called your mother, that was as far as my plan went, I assumed so much, that she was still alive, that she was in the same apartment I'd left forty years before, I assumed she would come pick me up and everything would begin to make sense, we would mourn and try to live, the phone rang and rang, we would forgive ourselves, it rang, a woman answered, 'Hello?' I knew it was her, the voice had changed but the breath was the same, the spaces between the words were the same, I pressed '4, 3, 5, 5, 6,' she said, 'Hello?'
I asked, '4, 7, 4, 8, 7, 3, 2, 5, 5, 9, 9, 6, 8?'
She said, 'Your phone isn't one hundred dollars. Hello?'
I wanted to reach my hand through the mouthpiece, down the line, and into her room, I wanted to reach YES, I asked, '4, 7,4,8, 7, 3, 2, 5, 5,9,9,6, 8?'
She said, 'Hello?'
I told her, '4, 3, 5, 7!'
'Listen,' she said, 'I don't know what's wrong with your phone, but all I hear is beeps. Why don't you hang up and try again.'
Try again? I was trying to try again, that's what I was doing! I knew it wouldn't help, I knew no good would come of it, but I stood there in the middle of the airport, at the beginning of the century, at the end of my life, and I told her everything: why I'd left, where I'd gone, how I'd found out about your death, why I'd come back, and what I needed to do with the time I had left. I told her because I wanted her to believe me and understand, and because I thought I owed it to her, and to myself, and to you, or was it just more selfishness? I broke my life down into letters, for love I pressed '5, 6, 8, 3,' for death, '3, 3, 2, 8, 4,' when the suffering is subtracted from the joy, what remains? What, I wondered, is the sum of my life?
'6,9,6, 2, 6, 3,4, 7, 3, 5,4, 3, 2, 5, 8, 6, 2, 6, 3,4, 5, 8, 7, 8, 2, 7, 7,4, 8, 3, 3. 2 8, 8,4, 3, 2,4, 7, 7, 6, 7, 8, 4, 6, 3, 3, 3, 8, 6, 3,4, 6, 3, 6, 7, 3,4, 6, 5, 3, 5, 7! 6,4, 3,2,2, 6, 7,4, 2, 5, 6, 3, 8, 7, 2, 6, 3,4, 3? 5, 7, 6, 3, 5, 8,6, 2, 6 3.4. 5. 8. 7.8, 2, 7, 7,4,8, 3, 9, 2, 8, 8,4, 3, 2,4, 7, 7,6, 7,8,4,6, 3, 3, 4. 5, 7, 6, 7, 8,4, 6, 3, 5, 5, 2, 6, 9, 4, 6, 5, 6, 7, 5, 4, 6! 5, 2, 6, 2, 6, 5, 9, 5, 2? 6, 9,6, 2, 6, 5,4, 7, 5, 5,4, 5, 2, 5, 2, 6,4, 6, 2,4, 5, 2, 7, 2, 2, 7, 7,4, 2, 5. 5, 2, 9, 2, 4, 5, 2,6! 4, 2, 2, 6, 5,4, 2, 5, 7,4, 5, 2, 5, 2,6, 2, 6, 5, 4, 5, 2, 7,2, 2, 7, 7,4, 2, 5, 5, 2, 2, 2,4, 5, 2! 7, 2, 2, 7, 7,4, 2, 5, 5, 2, 2, 2,4, 5, 2, 4, 7, 2, 2, 7, 2,4, 6, 5, 5, 5, 2, 6, 5,4, 6, 5, 6, 7, 5,4! 4, 3, 2, 4, 3, 3, 6, 3, 8, 4! 6, 3, 3, 3, 8,6, 3, 9, 6, 3, 6, 6, 3, 4, 6, 5, 3, 5, 3! 2, 2, 3, 3, 2,6, 3,4, 2, 5, 6, 3,8, 3, 2,6, 3,4, 3? 5,6, 8, 3? 5, 3,6, 3, 5, 8, 6, 2, 6, 3,4, 5, 8, 3, 8, 2, 3, 4, 8, 3, 3, 2, 8! 3, 3,4, 8, 3, 3, 2- 8, 3,4- 3. 2,4, 7, 6, 6, 7, 8,4, 6, 8, 3, 8, 8, 6, 3,4, 6, 3! 2, 2, 7, 7,4, 2, 5, 5, 2, 9, 2,4, 5, 2,6! 4, 2, 2,6, 5,4, 2, 5, 7,4, 5. 6, 5, 5, 2, 6, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5, 8, 3, 8, 2, 3, 3, 4, 8, 3, 9, 2, 8, 8, 4, 3, 2,4, 3, 3, 6. 3- 8, 4, 6, 3, 3, 3, 8! 4, 3, 2,4, 3, 3, 6, 3, 8, 4! 6, 3, 3, 3, 8, 6, 3, 9, 6, 3, 6, 6, 3,4, 6, 5, 3, 5, 3! 2, 2, 3, 3, 2, 6, 3,4, 2, 5, 6, 3, 8, 3, 2, 6, 3,4, 3? 5, 6, 8, 3? 5. 3. 6. 3. It took me a long time, I don't know how long, minutes, hours, my heart got tired, my finger did, I was trying to destroy the wall between me and my life with my finger, one press at a time, my quarter ran out, or she hung up, I called again, '4, 7,4, 8, 7, 3, 2, 5, 5,9,9,6, 8?'
She said, 'Is this a joke?' A joke, it wasn't a joke, what is a joke, was it a joke? She hung up, I called again, '8, 4, 4, 7, 4, 7, 6, 6, 8, 2, 5, 6, 5, 3!'
aaand yeah, that's what I was talking about. a lot of number huh? well, I was so curious about it, and I tried to translate it. but it hasn't finished yet. I'll post it here, when I'm done. do you want to try? well,  goodluck for both of us haha.

Don't go away

Hi, I think I don't like the book, I love it. I had told you it's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Haven't finished yet, but I've cried a lot already. didn't expect it would be so sad. I really really cried, because both the story is soo sad, and another tears fell for no reason. there had to be a reason, but like on this book, he said:
'Who said there had to be a reason?'
'No one did, exactly.'
'My question was rhetorical.'
'What's that mean?'
'It means I wasn't asking it for an answer, but to make a point.'
'What point?'
'That there doesn't have to be a reason.'
I don't want to discuss more about crying for no reason, anyway.
so, I just want to tell you some (another) parts that I love:

1.
She was extending a hand that I didn't know how to take, so I broke its fingers with my silence, she said, 'You don't want to talk to me, do you?' I took my daybook out of my knapsack and found the next blank page, the second to last. 'I don't speak,' I wrote. 'I'm sorry.' She looked at the piece of paper, then at me, then back at the piece of paper, she covered her eyes with her hands and cried, tears seeped between her fingers and collected in the little webs, she cried and cried and cried, there weren't any napkins nearby, so I ripped the page from the book – 'I don't speak. I'm sorry.' – and used it to dry her cheeks, my explanation and apology ran down her face like mascara, she took my pen from me and wrote on the next blank page of my daybook, the final one:
Please marry me
I love this part, even though I don't really understand when it is. obviously, it's his future. I'll get into that. but I just cried when he used the page to wiped her tears. and she said "please marry me". weird, but I think it's beautiful. in a weird way.

2.
In bed that night I invented a special drain that would be underneath every pillow in New York, and would connect to the reservoir. Whenever people cried themselves to sleep, the tears would all go to the same place, and in the morning the weatherman could report if the water level of the Reservoir of Tears had gone up or down, and you could know if New York was in heavy boots.
yes, I like his idea, because I cried to sleep, a lot. (ok, it's a secret between you and I)

3.
Even though the volume was way down, so Dad's voice wouldn't wake Mom, he still filled the room, like how a light fills a room even when it's dim.
:')

4. He talking to his Grandma with walkie-talkie! how cool is thaat.
but the sad part coming up:
Grandma lives in the building across the street. We're on the fifth floor and she's on the third, but you can't really tell the difference. Sometimes she'll write notes for me on her window, which I can see through my binoculars, and once Dad and I spent a whole afternoon trying to design a paper airplane that we could throw from our apartment into hers. Stan stood in the street, collecting all of the failed attempts. I remember one of the notes she wrote right after Dad died was 'Don't go away.'

5.
'Grandma? Over.'
'Yes? Over.'
'Why are matches so short? Over.'
'What do you mean? Over.'
'Well, they always seem to run out. Everyone's always rushing at the end, and sometimes even burning their fingers. Over.'
'I'm not very smart,' she said, insulting herself like she always does before she gives an opinion, 'but I think the matches are short so they can fit in your pocket. Over.'
'Yeah,' I said, balancing my chin on my hand, and my elbow on the windowsill. 'I think that, too. So what if pockets were a lot bigger? Over.'
'Well, what do I know, but I think the people might have a hard time reaching the bottoms of them if they went much lower. Over.'
'Right,' I said, switching hands, because that one was getting tired, 'so what about a portable pocket? Over.'
'A portable pocket? Over.'
'Yeah. It would be sort of like a sock, but with a Velcro outside, so you could attach it to anything. It's not quite a bag, because it actually becomes part of what you're wearing, but it's not quite a pocket either, because it's on the outside of your clothes, and also you can remove it, which would have all sorts of advantages, like how you could move things from one outfit to another easily, and how you could carry bigger things around, since you can take the pocket off and reach your arm all the way in. Over.' She put her hand against the part of her nightgown that covered her heart and said, 'That sounds like one hundred dollars. Over.'
'A portable pocket would prevent a lot of finger burns from short matches,' I said, 'but also a lot of dry lips from short ChapSticks. And why are candy bars so short, anyway? I mean, have you ever finished a candy bar and not wanted more? Over.'
'I can't eat chocolate,' she said, 'but I understand what you're telling me. Over.'
'You could have longer combs, so your part could be all the way straight, and bigger mencils – '
'Mencils?'
'Pencils for men.'

Is no clues a clue?

A great game that Dad and I would sometimes play on Sundays was Reconnaissance Expedition. Sometimes the Reconnaissance Expeditions were extremely simple, like when he told me to bring back something from every decade in the twentieth century – I was clever and brought back a rock – and sometimes they were incredibly complicated and would go on for a couple of weeks. For the last one we ever did, which never finished, he gave me a map of Central Park. I said, 'And?' And he said, 'And what?' I said, 'What are the clues?'
He said, 'Who said there had to be clues?'
'There are always clues.'
'That doesn't, in itself, suggest anything.'
'Not a single clue?' He said, 'Unless no clues is a clue.'
'Is no clues a clue?' He shrugged his shoulders, like he had no idea what I was talking about. I loved that.
Currently reading to Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer. aand, so far, this is my favorite part. wish I can read for more pages, but sadly I have class tomorrow at 7 a.m., so I post this on blog then go to sleep.
good night everyone, have a good week, good Monday :)

The Mayonnaise Jar and Two Cups of Coffee

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else--the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

found this story on facebook, and I'm actually had heard the other version of this story. but this version is different in the coffee part. and I like that part. so I share it here.

to my friends, my old friends, highschool friends, I'm really sorry if somestimes I'm too busy with both my personal life and college. next time, I make it up to you. see you this holiday soon :)

and I really hope I don't fill my jar with sand first or too much pebbles.
Have a nice day :)

The Way of the Bow

hi, another recommended book for you :)
This book is about archery. It's a short read but nicely written.

So the master of archery is explain some rules like postures, how to hold the arrow, how to hold the bow, how to draw the bow string, how to look at the target, the moment of releasing the arrow, how to observe the flight of the arrow, and more.
The bow is life: the source of all energy.
The arrow will leave one day.
The target is a long way off.
But the bow will stay with you, and you
must know how to look after it.
there are some highlights that I like:
- Even if the arrow fails to hit the target, you will learn how to improve your aim next time.
- If you never take a risk, you will never know what changes you need to make.
- Each arrow leaves a memory in your heart, and it is the sum of those memories that will make you shoot better and better.
- Use your bad moments to discover what makes you tremble. Use your good moments to find your road to inner peace.
- But for this to happen, you must practice and repeat. And if that isn't enough, you must repeat and practice.

To You

Walt Whitman
LET us twain walk aside from the rest;
Now we are together privately, do you discard ceremony,
Come! vouchsafe to me what has yet been vouchsafed to none—Tell me the whole story,
Tell me what you would not tell your brother, wife, husband, or physician.

Tuesdays with Morrie

This book is indescribable. This book is complete. There's so many lesson that we can take from this book. Not only about love, but also about life, death even..

This book written in thesis format, it's a final thesis which written by Mitch Albom and helped by his Professor, Morrie.

I don't know whether this is a real story or not. It doesn't matter. Here's some highlights:
“Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do;
Accept the past as past, without denying it or discarding it;
Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others;
Don't assume that it's too late to get involved.”

"You see, you closed your eyes. That was the difference. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too--even when you’re in the dark. Even when you’re falling."

“Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something
else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when
you know you should never take anything for granted."

“Love wins. Love always wins.”

“if you really want it, then you'll make your dream happen.“

“Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.”

'Love each other or perish.'

"Don't cling to things, because everything is impermanent."

“Don't let go too soon, but don't hang on too long.”

“Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others.”

I know this feeling

"Sometimes, I feel envy with this girl.

Everything I do with effort, this girl don’t need to feel effort like what I feel. She always can do well than me, although I do it first. Maybe I can’t follow her success, but I hope I can stay true of my self, I follow my heart, and believe in my self.

Stay strong.

Cheers."

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Have you ever read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky? well, I saw some quotes of this book, and.. I fall in love.
I really really want to read this book..

I hope I will find it, and buy it.

So, here some quotes that I talked about:
"we accept the love we think we deserve."

"I just need to know that someone out there listens and understands and doesn't try to sleep with people even if they could have. I need to know that these people exist."

"So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."

"And in that moment, I swear we were infinite."

"I would die for you. But I won't live for you."

"There's nothing like deep breaths after laughing that hard. Nothing in the world like a sore stomach for the right reasons."

"Enjoy it. Because it's happening."

"We didn't talk about anything heavy or light. We were just there together. And that was enough"

"It was the kind of kiss that made me know that I was never so happy in my whole life."

"I don’t know if you’ve ever felt like that. That you wanted to sleep for a thousand years. Or just not exist. Or just not be aware that you do exist. Or something like that. I think wanting that is very morbid, but I want it when I get like this. That’s why I’m trying not to think. I just want it all to stop spinning."

"And I guess I realized at that moment that I really did love her. Because there was nothing to gain, and that didn't matter."

"And all the books you've read have been read by other people. And all the songs you've loved have been heard by other people. And that girl that's pretty to you is pretty to other people. and that if you looked at these facts when you were happy, you would feel great because you are describing 'unity."
"Just tell me how to be different in a way that makes sense. To make this all go away. And disappear. I know that's wrong, because it's my responsibility, and I know things have to get worse before they get better. I walk around the school hallways and look at the people. I look at the teachers and wonder why their here. If they like their jobs. Or us. I wonder how smart they were when they were fifteen. Not in a mean way. In a curious way. It's like looking at all the students and wondering who's had their heart broken that day. And how they cope with having three quizzes and a book report. On top of that. Or wondering who did the heart breaking. And wondering why. Especially since I know that if they went to another school, the person who had their heart broken would have had their heart broken by somebody else, so why does it have to be personal? It's much easier to not know things sometimes. Things change and friends leave. And life doesn't stop for anybody. I wanted to laugh. Or maybe get mad. Or maybe shrug at how strange everybody was, especially me. I think the idea is that every person has to live for his or her own life and than make the choice to share it with other people. You can't just sit their and put everybody's lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love. You just can't. You have to do things. I'm going to do what I want to do. I'm going to be who I really am. And I'm going to figure out what that is. And we could all sit around and wonder and feel bad about each other and blame a lot of people for what they did or didn't do or what they didn't know. I don't know. I guess there could always be someone to blame. It's just different. Maybe it's good to put things in perspective, but sometimes, I think that the only perspective is to really be there. Because it's okay to feel things. I was really there. And that was enough to make me feel infinite. I feel infinite."

"I wanted to laugh. Or maybe get mad. Or maybe shrug at how strange everyone was, especially me."

"If somebody likes me, I want them to like the real me, not what they think I am. And I don't want them to carry it around inside. I want them to show me, so I can feel it, too. I want them to be able to do whatever they want around me."

"I am both happy and sad at the same time, and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."

"it's strange because sometimes, I read a book, and I think I am the people in the book."

"This moment will just be another story someday."

"I have decided that maybe I want to write when I grow up. I just don't know what I would write."

"there is this one photograph... that is just beautiful. it would be impossible to describe how beautiful it is, but I’ll try. if you listen to the song “asleep,” and you think about those pretty weather days that make you remember things, and you think about the prettiest eyes you’ve known, and you cry and the person holds you back, then i think you will see the photograph. "

"I just don't want you to worry about me, or think you've met me, or waste your time anymore."

"Something really is wrong with me. And I don't know what it is."

"You can't just sit there and put everyone's lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love. You just can't. You have to do things."

P.S: since I know there are so many people that read this post, I just want to tell you I write something about this book. you can see it here and here :)
